Things that come too easily are and will always be taken for granted. Why? Simple. Things that come easy, it's just perceived as something that's there no matter what. Things that don't, you work hard for it. Difference being when you know you worked hard for it, it's just natural to treasure it more. Everyone's the same. They worked hard for something before, and they've had things that come easily before. Same logic applies to people. There are people who work hard to get us, people that we work hard for to get, people who we can get easily, and people we make ourselves easily available to. I've been in all four situations before, and the worst feeling of all, is making ourselves available to someone who don't work as hard to keep you as compared to when they're trying to get someone or trying to keep someone they've worked hard for to get. It's the priority and option thing again, "don't make someone a priority when you're only an option." Think of your efforts, mathematically. What is the reciprocal of one, and what's the reciprocal of two? I think this proves something, and this really applies for relationships. Put in your full effort, and you'll get back the same in return. Put in too much, you'll get back less, because the remaining is taken for granted. Back to what I was saying. Think about it. How do you treat the people that you worked hard for to get, and how do you treat the people that's just there for you? Sudden realization, no? At the end of the day, it doesn't matter how you start, it's about how you finish. Things you work hard for aren't necessarily better than things that come easy, and things that come easy can go as easily as well. People that make themselves easily available for you is called a privilege, because while they are easily available for you, there are a lot more other people outside working hard to get them. Regardless of whoever, whatever, the most important thing is to treasure. If you don't know how to treasure, doesn't matter if it's easy or hard to get, you'll still lose it anyway. Don't lose something, then regret not treasuring. Because by then it'll be all too late, and I know that feeling all too well. "Drown in happiness, not dwell on regrets." By me. :) |
